Kirby's Adventure


Kirby's Adventure is a NES game developed by HAL Laboratory released in 1993. This game is a platform game which makes the player to jump his/ her avatar to and from suspended platforms and/or over obstacles in order to continue the game.

Interactivity



Every game must be interactive to play in order to attract people play its game. In this case, Kirby's Adventure provides many actions for the player. By pressing left or right keys twice, the player's avatar will dash to the desired location. Moreover, the avatar will slide down to a given direction by pressing 'A' button and down key. If the player press up key, the avatar will fly over stuff! Furthermore, the avatar will inhale enemies in front of it when the player pressed 'B' button. The avatar can also take various enemy's power within the game by pressing down while inhaled an enemy.

Settings



There is no settings in this game for the player to choose difficulty, single or multi player game. However, the player can choose his/ her saved game from the main menu of the game. If there is no saved slot, the player must choose any of the three slots available. By doing this, the player will start a new game and the game will be automatically saved after each level passed.

Concept



The game consists of several worlds, which contains either regular level, boss fight, or world to world warp star door. Sometimes, the player may be given mini-game which provide benefits to its avatar such as health items, or certain powers. During the game, the player may attack enemies and have to proceed to the end of level until the final level of the game.

Goal



The objective of this game is to complete all levels given. Optionally, the player could acquire score as high as possible, and complete all the mini-games.

Challenge



By watching the introduction tutorial from the start of the game, it can be predictable that the game will have a long story to finish the game. The player must reach the end of each level without being killed by enemies. When the character almost reach the end of the level, it will be given a boss which must be killed to finish the level. Since the story is a bit too long, the developer of this game gives health bar and life's token which can be increased. Therefore, the player's avatar will not be easily killed by the enemies yet the player still have to complete every level within the game.

Story








After Kirby wakes up from his after-lunch nap without having any dreams, he goes to the Fountain of Dreams to investigate. In doing so, he discovers that King Dedede has stolen the Star Rod, the source of power to the Fountain of Dreams, and broken it into seven pieces, giving six fragments to his allies, Whispy Woods, Paint Roller, Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright, Kracko, Heavy Mole, and Meta Knight, also keeping one for himself. Without the Star Rod, all of the inhabitants of Dream Land are becoming restless and unable to dream. Kirby decides to track down the fragments of the Star Rod and bring them back to the Fountain of Dreams in order to restore everyone's dreams. (Wikipedia, 2013)
